Is Chatsworth Hills Academy an accredited school?

Yes. Chatsworth Hills Academy holds dual accreditation from the California Association of Independent Schools and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges, having achieved the high standards of both accrediting agencies. CHA is also a proud member of the National Association of Independent Schools.

What is your enrollment?

There are currently 275 students in Early Childhood through Grade 8.

How are students selected for admission?

Admission to Chatsworth Hills Academy is competitive. We are looking for bright, active, involved students who have the potential to achieve success in a rigorous, college preparatory program. We consider the following: the information given on the application; the academic record, essay, and test scores; the student's skills, talents, and character; information gathered through the interview process; and teachers' recommendations.

Is financial assistance available?

Yes. Chatsworth Hills Academy offers a Flexible Tuition Program to all qualified families. Information about the Flex Plan can be requested from the Business Office.

When will we receive the school's admission decision?

Once the admissions process is complete, families will begin to be notified on or before March 16, 2008.

What credentials do faculty members hold?

Full-time core curricula faculty hold undergraduate degrees and many have earned advanced degrees from colleges/universities including Dartmouth (New Hampshire), Columbia (New York), Northwestern (Illinois), UCLA, Boston College (Massachusetts), University of Wisconson, Carnegie Mellon (Pennsylvania), Hofstra University (New York), Leslie College (Massachusetts), California Lutheran University, Syracuse (New York), USC, University of Chicano (Illinois) as well as universities in both the UC and California State systems.

Do I have to buy my books?

Books are provided for students in Kindergarten-Grade 4. Students in Grades 5-8 are required to purchase their texts.

Do you have a library?

Yes. The library is centrally located on campus and serves all divisions. It holds an extensive collection of over 7,000 fiction and non-fiction books, magazines and resource material and enjoys on-line service for research.

Do you have behavioral expectations for your students?

Yes. CHA believes that students should always exhibit the school's core values and thus behave in an acceptable manner both on and off campus. Students receive a Behavioral Code at the beginning of the school year and must agree, along with their parents, to adhere to the rules and expectations of the school. Showing respect towards each other, as well as towards faculty and staff, is essential.

Do you have a dress code?

Yes. We have a prescribed dress code. CHA expects that students should be clean and well-groomed.

Do you have a food service program?

Yes. Snacks are provided for Early Childhood students, and food items and beverages are sold at recess time for Kindergarten - Grade 8. Nutritious lunches are available for purchase at all grade levels. Both snacks and lunches may also be brought from home.

Do you offer after school athletics?

Yes. CHA participates in the San Fernando Valley Private School League and has an outstanding athletic program for both girls and boys in Grades 4-8. Teams include Flag Football, Soccer, Basketball, and Volleyball.

Do you have a before and after school program?

Yes. Early morning EDC is provided from 7:00 a.m. free of charge. After school Extended Day Care (EDC) provides a diverse program for students from 2:00-6:00 p.m. each school day. Fees apply to the afternoon EDC program, and enrichment classes are also offered after school at an additional cost.
