Middle School - WELCOME
Thank you for taking the time to explore the Middle School (grades 5-8) at Chatsworth Hills Academy. We are enthusiastic about our program and the growth we see every day in our students. While our Middle School builds on the foundation that is created in the Early Childhood and Lower School, it also challenges students in new and different ways with our demanding academics and emphasis on character development. Our graduates leave CHA with the self-confidence and skills that not only make them outstanding students but also vital, valuable participants in our communities. I'd like to share with you some of the exceptional qualities our school provides in a middle school education.
When asking graduates what they liked about CHA, they responded by saying that support, class size and the environment were their favorite things. We don't see these as separate aspects of our school, but elements of the unique integration that we have been able to create at CHA. Our faculty is energetically involved in our students' lives. The wonderfully small classes allow our faculty to know each student individually. At weekly faculty meetings we have time to discuss each student's progress. As part of our advisor program, one faculty member serves as a guide and resource assigned to students and their family.
Our philosophy at CHA includes challenging a child to explore his or her potential and to make choices grounded in respect and compassion. While our college preparatory curriculum is rigrorous, we believe in empowering our students through learning. A CHA student graduates with a solid foundation of habits and skills to succeed anywhere. As part of each student's character development, we encourage him / her to be aware of one's surroundings, to respect the community and to be an involved citizen. Throughout the year, we initiate and participate in several community service projects, from caring for our own campus to being of service at food banks and homeless shelters.
There is much more to CHA, including our cross-curricular studies, our educational class trips to Yosemite, Catalina and Washington, D.C., and our robust athletics.
I look forward to welcoming you in person to our beautiful campus.
